Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold colored metal and enamel insignia 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a black horse standing on the upper rim of a gold demi-wheel with black tire, overall a red scimitar erect.

Symbolism
The horse stands for the designation "Iron Horse," the name by which the locomotive was known in its early days. It refers to the Battalion's former designation as the 791st Railway Operating Battalion. The wheel stands for the organization's present function as a Transportation Truck Battalion. The scimitar refers to the unit's commendation for service in the Persian Gulf Command during World War II.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 21 September 1966.
